Date of Walk: Sunday September 22nd, 2024
Total Distance: 16.67km
Total Time: 3:24:40
Landy is back, and all chicken processing for 2024 is complete so our weekends are fully back online! Today started out with a walk through the town of Perth, and then an interesting walk along the river. Then, we ended up walking through a marsh with wet growth as high as me. Totally wild this actually being the trail, if it wasn’t for trusty orange arrows, we never would have believed this was actual trail. I think another couple came through a couple days previously as there were some indications someone had walked in some spots within the growing season. We survived the wilderness!!
A good chunk of todays walk was along a busy highway, the 80km/hr type with transport trucks on it type. That wasn’t the greatest but made for quick walking the rest of the trip. We did not find/see the 11A or 11B markers but know we walked by them at some point. We were watching our mileage and checking our GPS but never found anything where the waypoint markers indicated signs should be. One could easily have been on the other side of the busy highway and we would have never known for sure. Sad to not have photographic proof, but at least our map/gps shows we took the right path.
We stopped just shy of 11C on the east side of Port Elmsley, and will continue on next weekend towards Smith’s Falls.
We went back to Billings and Co. after discussing how much we liked our previous lunch and wanted a repeat. Despite them having changed their menu and eliminating the OG Grilled Cheese, they still have it on a “secret” menu and made us one. This was the right choice, and absolutely delicious as it was last time.
For dessert we snagged a trio of donuts from Blackfly Grub Hub who hadn’t run out. We had an oreo sandwich donut, a cookie dough version, and an extreme oreo cookie one….this is why I take long walks lol!!
