May 15, 2021
Today we went to Gemmells in Smith’s Falls for the first time this year. I confess that last year’s weeping white pine died, and since it had a 1yr guarantee, we figured we could trade it in to offset the cost of today’s trip. I had hoped to find a flowering crabapple to plant where the dead magnolia is in the middle of the front lawn, but no luck. We did however pick up 2 lilacs (Julia) for the front, a rosebush (Polar Express – planted it where the white pine died), 2 more wooly thyme, 2 tomato plants (cherry, yellow pear), and a cucumber plant. And then got a small gift card balance back too, am sad about weeping pine, but his death sure helped get a start to this year.
May 16th, 2021 planting
Significant work on 2021 veggies, we have picked up some sweet peppers, lettuce, a jalapeno, some onion transplants, some butternut squash, and some pumpkins. In addition we picked up a patio peony and a random annual I liked the flowers of.
Finally found a beautiful flowering crabapple! At Ritchies, picking up later this week – definitely going in dead magnolia hole.
Out with the old, and in with the new!
